Our Memberships

The Pleasanton Partnerships in Education (PPIE) is a non-profit 501(c) 3 foundation dedicated to supporting Pleasanton public schools. Our goal is to raise funds for enhancing educational excellence for students in the Pleasanton Unified School District. PPIE relies on the generous support of the extended community to help our schools maintain excellence by meeting classroom needs unfunded by other means.

Mission Statement: Pleasanton Partnerships in Education Foundation, a community-based organization, exists to enhance learning experiences for students of the Pleasanton Unified School District through a partnership of business, education and the community.

History of PPIE: In 1985, the Superintendent of Pleasanton Unified School District presented a partnership program idea to the Corporate Volunteer Council. This led to the formation of the Business/Education subcommittee of the Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce in 1986, and in 1987, as a separate 501(c) 3, Pleasanton Partnerships In Education (PPIE) was born.

The original programs PPIE offered included Business/Education Student Tutoring (BEST), Teacher Awareness Partnership (TAP), CHOICES (a critical thinking program for middle school aged children), and “Salute to Partnerships“ (a recognition luncheon program).

In order to be able to more directly enhance learning experiences in the schools, PPIE added a grant making program to the services they provided and in 1998 became PPIE Foundation. PPIE Foundation now serves over 14,000 students annually and supports over 800 teachers and administrators.

Working in a strong collaborative relationship with the Pleasanton Unified School District over the years, programs have been added and/or enhanced to further meet the needs of Pleasanton students and educators, and build upon the critical partnering of business and education.

PPIE Programs:

• EDUCATION GRANTS
This Grant program is offered to all teachers & faculty of the PUSD once a year. Grant funding is offered up to $2500 per application.

• STUDENT GRANTS
Grants awarded directly to students or student groups for teacher supervised projects and programs, up to $500 per grant awarded two times a year.

• SALUTE TO PARTNERSHIPS
An annual event to recognize the generous support of our donors and volunteers and showcase the impact their support has had on the students.
• CAREER DAY Career Day is an all-morning event that provides middle school students with volunteer guest speakers from a wide variety of career areas, who share detailed career information and “real world” work experiences in a classroom setting.

• PPIE PARENT AMBASSADOR PROGRAM
Parent Ambassador’s are the main communication link between PPIE and the school site that they represent. It is their job to inform parents, teachers, and students about PPIE programs and events throughout the school year. This is accomplished by reporting PPIE news at parent club meetings, in school newsletters, and posting marketing materials at the school site. In addition, they help recruit volunteers and sell tickets to “Bon Appetit”, PPIE’s annual culinary fundraiser in the fall; promote the student and teacher grant program; sell drawing tickets for the “Salute to Partnerships” recognition luncheon in the spring and attend the luncheon.
