“Now join your hands, and with your hands your hearts.”
William Shakespeare
I'm April, and I've been practicing as a therapist for about 15 years. I believe that each individual is unique and complicated, and enjoy finding the most effective ways to increased communication and growth. I received my Bachelor of Social Work from New York University, NY., and finished there with a Masters in Social Work. While in New York, I worked in diverse settings, participated in psychoanalytic psychotherapy training, became licensed, and had a private practice. Years later, I returned to California, as I'm a native. Since there is no reciprocity, I completed hours of required work, passed two State exams, and became licensed in the state of California as well. I no longer practice psychoanalytic psychotherapy, as I utilize more current techniques suited to individuals today. I have a direct approach, and offer a safe environment to explore feelings, provide empathic listening, nonjudgmental support, and perspective. I like nurturing the innate desire you possess to make the changes necessary in your life.
So, whether you are seeking individual, marital/family, or group therapy, your wanting to explore alternatives is an important first step in this process.
