The California Youth Soccer Association, Incorporated (CYSA) is affiliated with the US Youth Soccer Association (USYS), the United States Soccer Federation (USSF) and the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA).
CYSA is a non-profit corporation supported through player registration fees, league fees, sponsorships and donations. Our goal is to provide an opportunity for youth players of all levels of skill to participate in soccer programs.
Mission Statement
"The mission of the California Youth Soccer Association is to serve all children and our communities by providing opportunities that allow each child to grow, learn, mature and succeed by becoming productive adult members of society through the development, promotion, and offering, regardless of race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin and/or ability, comprehensive community based leagues that offer a complete range of youth soccer opportunities for all children of all ages and abilities."
Promoting the health and Well-Being of Players & Coaches as Role Models
CYSA and the CYSA Coaching staff are committed to the positive development of our children. Therefore, we ask that all coaches adhere to the CYSA policy regarding tobaco use in addition to the following:
PROMOTE a consistent message about the dangers of tobacco use.
CREATE a support system for a tobacco-free environment.
INTEGRATE tobaco education messages into your practices.
MODEL tobacco-free behavior. Don't use tobacco products in the presence of your players.
CYSA POLICY
The CYSA Board of Directors recognizes that there is ample research deomonstrating the health hazards of the use of tobaco products, including smoking and the breathing of second-hand smoke, and its responsibility to the players and participants to demonstrate the teach acceptable health principles. The CYSA Board of Directors, therefore, in the best interest of the health and safety of the players, participants and general public, directs the development of the following regulations:
The California Youth Soccer Association (CYSA) discourages tobacco use within 25 yards of any CYSA affiliated activity involving youth players.
This policy shall be established to:
Further the goal of consistency amonth on-going school and community programs to discourage children from using tobacco products;
Promote health and encourage players to adopt healthy lifestyles;
Reflect and emphasize the hazards of tobacco use;
Protect the health and safety of players, coaches and the general public;
Eliminate the mixed messages that children receive through tobaco advertising and its association with sporting events; and
Generate respect among players for league authority, thereby improving discipline by virtue of its applicaiton to coaches, officials, players and the general public.
