About Studio Blue

That old adage, "Perseverance and honest, hard work will one day be rewarded with success" has become a reality. From a photographic studio in a two-room apartment in Walnut Creek to the operation of two reprographic plants - one in Walnut Creek and the second in Pleasanton - Studio Blue Reprographics, Inc. is a "dream come true" for Don and Marilyn Morrison, who purchased their original business in Walnut Creek in 1954. Their original operation consisted of one Ozalid whiteprint machine which had been used to develop photo negatives for the photographic studio. The Morrison's used the machine to start a blueprint business under the name Walnut Creek Studio Blueprint.

In 1955 their operation moved to a new location in Walnut Creek and they expanded their services by purchasing a new diazo machine, adding photostat capabilities and began stocking architectural and engineering supplies. Six years later they moved into their present Walnut Creek location and in 1991 they opened their second plant in Pleasanton.

The company was incorporated in 1972 under the name of Studio Blueprint & Allied Reproductions, Inc.. This name change was to depict the many changes coming into the industry. The final name change - to Studio Blue Reprographics, Inc. - once again representing the many diversities in this ever changing industry.

In 1972 Don was named President and Marilyn Secretary-Treasurer. Their two children worked for the company during summer breaks at school and for five years after they finished college. Their son eventually moved on to other pursuits. Their daughter remained with them until her marriage and hence a move out of state. In 1981 Don retired and their daughter and son-in-law, Greg and Wendy Betty, became involved in the company's operation and are now managing the company.

Upon Don's retirement, he became CEO and Chief Financial Officer and Marilyn was elected President and Wendy, Vice-President. Greg is a member of the Board of Directors and General Manager. The Morrison's are proud of the fact that their company is one of the few successful second generation operations in this industry.

Greg and Wendy have continued the tradition of hard work, customer satisfaction and expanding the services to better meet the needs of their clients. In 2004, Studio Blue Reprographics, Inc. will celebrate their 50th anniversary and plan to maintain the level of service they have given in the past and continue to keep abreast of the ever changing reprographics industry.

The following long ago motto of Don & Marilyn's still holds true!

"To rest content with results achieved is the first sign of business decay."
